Intelligence Squared U.S. is an award-winning debate series that is widely distributed as a radio program, podcast, online broadcast, television and digital video series. A non-partisan, non-profit organization, Intelligence Squared U.S. addresses a fundamental problem in America: the extreme polarization of our nation and our politics. Our mission is to restore critical thinking, facts, reason, and civility to American public discourse, and we are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Director of Marketing to join our growing team.
The Manager, Marketing and Audience Development will oversee marketing and media campaigns across a variety of platforms, from live events to content marketing and digital distribution. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and highly organized, with excellent project management skills and a deep knowledge of best practices for executing effective marketing campaigns targeted to niche audiences. This role will be responsible for planning and executing program growth, audience development, and partnership relations for our slate of 15+ annual live events, in addition to other audience-facing initiatives.
The Director of Marketing will report to the CEO. Responsibilities include:
Owning the marketing plan and execution for all live events and owned media distribution channels, which include: podcasts, radio, television, digital streaming and social media
Overseeing campaigns from start to finish across all owned and paid channels including display, social media, email, event landing pages and more
Developing comprehensive, creative marketing plans to achieve specific objectives unique to each debate, including awareness, lead generation, ticket sales and donor cultivation
Managing the public relations team and on-site press / media opportunities
Communicating and coordinating campaign plans and schedules with other stakeholders within the organization, including events, design, social media, web development, audience development and editorial
Closely monitoring performance metrics and ROI, provide regular reporting and optimize targeting, budgets and other variables accordingly
Staying up-to-date on current trends and best practices in digital marketing and event promotion and applying new strategies to current and planned campaigns
Owning the creation of sponsorship and partnership pitch decks and materials
Overseeing all development / fundraising marketing materials and annual solicitations
Collaborating on art direction and graphic design with internal and external teams
Developing efficiencies across project management systems
Guiding the brand voice across all media
Supervising all marketing operations to streamline budget efficiencies
Job requirements include:
8+ years of experience in marketing and media campaign management
Event marketing experience a must
Exceptional communication and project management skills
Fluency with digital trends, platforms, and social media marketing best practices
Proficiency with Adwords, SEO, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter organic and paid campaigns
Ability to take initiative and lead projects while maintaining a collaborative approach
Desire to learn, take on new challenges and expand skills
Strong work ethic and team player attitude
Minimum educational level – Bachelor’s Degree
Up to 15% travel in/out of state, as needed
