Sheryll Cashin

Sheryll Cashin is the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law, Civil Rights, and Social Justice at Georgetown University. She is the author of the recent “White Space, Black ‘Hood: Opportunity Hoarding and Segregation in the Age of Inequality” (2021) about the role of residential segregation in producing racial inequity. Her book “Place Not Race” (2014), which recommended radical reforms of selective college admissions in order to promote robust diversity, was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction. She has contributed work to a variety of academic journals and publications, including Politico, The New York Times, the Washington Post, and The Root, among others. Professor Cashin also worked in the Clinton White House as an advisor on urban and economic policy. She currently serves on the board of the Poverty and Race Research Action Council.
