Student Ambassador Program

Would you like to bring Intelligence Squared U.S. to your college campus? Launching this fall, we are delighted to announce our latest initiative, the Intelligence Squared U.S. Student Ambassador Program! Intelligence Squared Student Ambassadors are campus liaisons who help Intelligence Squared bring reasoned debate to colleges around the country. By hosting debate-watch parties, our Ambassadors engage with their communities and promote civil and informed discussions about a range of topics, including politics, foreign policy, technology, and cultural trends. Ambassador applications are open for fall 2019.

ABOUT INTELLIGENCE SQUARED

Intelligence Squared U.S. debates, a non-partisan and non-profit organization, addresses a fundamental problem in America: the extreme polarization of our nation and our politics. Our mission is to restore critical thinking, facts, reason, and civility to American public discourse. Through a series of Oxford-style debates, Intelligence Squared brings leading thinkers to the stage to debate the most important – and often contentious – issues of the day.

ABOUT STUDENT AMBASSADORS

An ideal student ambassador Is:

  • An undergraduate or graduate student in the United States
  • Available four hours per month and able to plan two debate-watch parties per semester
  • Passionate about event planning and community engagement
  • Fluent in social media and able to engage other students on debate topics through various platforms
  • Involved with student organizations and activities
  • Interested in a career in journalism, media, academia, or think tanks

Requirements: Ambassadors have a passion for debate and a desire to spark dialogue about contentious and nuanced issues on their college campuses. Intelligence Squared U.S. Ambassadors come from a variety of academic majors, including science, journalism, law, marketing, and media studies. Over the course of the semester, Ambassadors will have opportunities to attend live debates, join conference calls on editorial issues with the IQ2US team, gain access to a network of individuals dedicated to debate and media, be mentored by members of the IQ2US team, receive recognition on the IQ2US.org website, and enjoy preferred application status for internships and future job openings.

If you would like to participate in this exciting professional development opportunity, please send a note of interest and résumé to Jenn Zelmer at jzelmer@iq2us.org. Applications will be accepted until Friday, August 30, 2019.
