Director of Project Management and Production

Reporting to the CEO, this position demands versatility and an entrepreneurial spirit. This is a unique opportunity to build the systems, processes, and procedures that support a growing media organization. This role will be supported by an Events and Operations Manager.

Working in partnership with the editorial and digital teams, the Director of Project Management and Production will be the primary liaison for all logistics and systems to support programming across a range of recordings, virtual and in-person events, community engagements, and media tapings. This position manages integrated projects from strategy and ideation through presentation and reporting, serving as the primary contact to ensure all deliverables and components are on track and within scope. This role has complete oversight of the project management for all podcasts, radio programs, pilots, streaming products, live events, and virtual experiences.

Key responsibilities include conceiving the best possible approach to every engagement, developing executable plans, overseeing operations, managing project management software, directing staff, and coordinating technical and production teams. This position is responsible for ensuring technical production and the final program meet our award-winning broadcast standards, and oversees the preparation and management of logistical planning and event budgets.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of experience in project management in media and live event production. You are a high-energy, spirited, strategic thinker that has mastered the art of multi-tasking. You are tech-savvy, creative and flexible – no matter what comes your way you can devise a diplomatic solution and see the project through from start to finish. You possess an ambitious attitude toward your work and aren’t satisfied with the status-quo. You aren’t afraid to ask questions, dig deeper and develop new skills on the job.


  • Own the execution of the editorial calendar and delivery of programs across platforms
  • Shepherd programs from ideation through completion ensuring final deliverables are met within scope, within budget, while upholding the highest standards of quality
  • Staff, administer and maintain event calendar with the editorial team
  • Oversee workload of team ensuring day-to-day understanding of capacity/pressure points and assisting/offering guidance where necessary.
  • Manage Asana to ensure all deliverables and deadlines are made
  • Responsible for managing and directing production teams, including audio engineers, video directors, technical production managers, live event and virtual crews, and the virtual event platform vendors
  • Responsible for drawing up the budget for the event and making sure that whatever activity that is to be carried out is in line with the proposed budget
  • Manage, develop, mentor, and provide feedback to direct report son an ongoing basis
  • Monitor projects on an ongoing basis, evaluating and reporting progress and quality of work, proactively managing issue resolution, taking corrective action and escalating to senior management as necessary.
  • Provide strategic guidance to create a virtuous cycle of efficiency between editorial, marketing, and fundraising (development) initiatives


  • 8+ years of experience in project management and live event production.
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, and comfort with managing up
  • Ability to pivot to changing priorities and adapt to various requests and projects with ease
  • High level of competency with minimal supervision
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Experience at a media company and interest in current affairs, news, and podcasts is a huge plus

Minimum level: Bachelor’s Degree
Certificate of Project Management Preferred

Travel Requirements
Up to 15% travel in/out of state, as needed.
